WANGARATTA coach Ben Reid saw plenty of potential in Joe Richards from the moment he walked through the doors at Norm Minns Oval.
Richards was snaffled by Collingwood with pick 48 at the AFL's national draft on Tuesday evening in what was arguably the best story from this year's draft.
Reid was over the moon for Richards.
"When it happened I think the whole region was rapt for him," Reid said.
