Storm causes outages, damage

NEARLY every township throughout the Strathbogie region was plunged into darkness after a severe thunderstorm raced through the region this past Saturday.

The storm, which arrived at around 4pm, did much of its damage in Avenel, with huge trees uprooted throughout the town due to wind that pushed 100 kilometres per hour.

Avenel, Euroa, Violet Town, Nagambie and parts of Strathbogie townships all were without power for several hours as Ausnet scrambled to restore services, with the majority of towns getting power back at around 1.30am.
