Researching Euroa’s Indian hawker

A RESEARCHER from England has visited Euroa to learn more about the history of a famous Indian hawker who lived and worked in Euroa.

Nickey Singh Kondola travelled to the town after hearing an interview that local resident Zelma Collier gave to SBS Radio’s Punjabi program earlier this year.

The interview explored the life and cremation of a retired Indian hawker that residents called Poonah Singh (or PooNoo Singh) in the 1930s.
