The Gazette has received many enquiries querying why rates have gone up by as much as 16 per cent in areas where no standard service has been received.

RATEPAYERS within the Strathbogie Shire region have been left confused about rate rises as council notices start to be delivered to houses across the region.

This financial year Strathbogie Shire Council has implemented a 2.25 per cent increase in the average rate for 2019-20, below the State Government cap of 2.5 per cent.

But residents have contacted the Gazette asking questions as to why rates have gone up, some by as much as 16 per cent.
