COUNCIL ACTION: Strathbogie Shire Council are looking to implement a comprehensive action plan following a VAGO audit report which found many council failings.

AROUND 60 people once again packed into the Strathbogie Shire Council meeting room at the Euroa Community Conference Centre last week to see councillors endorse an action plan in response to the findings of the recent Victorian Auditor-General’s Office Audit Report (VAGO) into Fraud and Corruption Controls.

The action plan includes an extensive approval process, audit committee changes, the banning of purchasing gifts including alcohol and selling of council property to staff or councillors.

As part of the plan, council will also be requesting a meeting with VAGO in 12 months to review the actions undertaken by Strathbogie Shire Council and their effectiveness.
