• Locals talk about climate change plan

    SOME 30 people gathered at the Violet Town Community Centre to discuss how the broader theme of climate change could be developed into a strategic development plan last week.

    A number of key issues were discussed throughout the night, under the guidance and expertise of Professor Kate Auty the community engagement was clear.

    It was made very clear, that under the current policies and emission trajections, Violet Town is set to rise 3.4 degrees Celsius by 2050.

    Prof Auty helped identify some policy gaps in the current planning, and with community input from those attending they deemed water, agriculture and land use, transport and emergency management of important focus.
