A LOCAL man, in a final gesture, has showed his true love for the community by leaving a large sum of money to community groups that profoundly impacted his life.
Ian Williams was an avid member of the Uniting Church, a real community man and most importantly a friend of many.
After his passing last year, Mr Williams left a total legacy of $500,000 to be distributed to Euroa Health, Euroa Fire Brigade, Euroa SES and the Uniting Church.
Mr Williams had been a church elder and session clerk for 60 years so it came as no surprise that he would allocate the Uniting Church as one of his recipients.
Robyn Burke was a fellow member of the church and remembers Mr Williams as a quietly helpful person who would always sit close to the door to ensure he could open it for others.
