LONG term advocate for refugees Matthew Albert will be guest Australia Day Ambassador at Euroa on Friday, January 26.
Australia Day Award ceremonies will be held in six towns across the Strathbogie Shire with a variety of guest speakers and ambassadors.
Held at Rotary Park on Kirkland Avenue, Euroa, the official program will commence at 12pm with presentations of Australia Day town awards and the address from Australia Day Ambassador – Mr Albert.
A free barbecue will be provided after the ceremony – all members of the public are most welcome to attend.
Mr Albert is a co-founder of the Sudanese Australian Integrated Learning (SAIL) Program – a volunteer, not-for-profit organisation that provides free English support and community services to the Sudanese refugee community in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth.
He currently practices as a barrister and is a senior fellow at the Melbourne University Law School.
