ANDREW Preston has made investigating the lives, and deaths, of Victoria’s long gone police officers killed while in uniform his passion.
His work has resulted in the due recognition of numerous forgotten officers.
In late 2016 Andrew was presented with a certificate of appreciation from Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton on behalf of Victoria Police for his work in ensuring that those officers who have died during their service will not be forgotten.
One of those officers Andy helped uncover was Constable Patrick Francis Curtain.
Constable Curtain died from injuries he sustained when the wagon he was travelling in overturned near Euroa.
Andrew’s work in bringing attention to the death of Curtain resulted in Chief Commissioner of Victoria Police Graham Ashton coming to Euroa to present Constable Curtain’s great-great-granddaughter Dawn De Vond with his Police Star, and for his dilapidated grave at the Euroa ceremony to be restored.
