ARTISTS living in the North East region never cease to surprise and delight their communities with their skills and creative talents.
This was the case last weekend, at the 2017 Honeysuckle Art Exhibition in Violet Town.
More than 100 works of art, using a whole range of media, were on display including photography, textiles, paintings, sketches, print making, woodwork, ceramics and metalwork.
The theme of this year’s exhibition was “Ageing – in all its Forms” and, though not all of the entries were on the theme, those that were presented a wonderful range of “ageing” interpretations.
There were portraits of the elderly, images of young and old together, rusty trucks, rusty wire, memory quilts, ancient forests and old bones. Some were whimsical or quirky, others serious or touching.
Opening night was a bustling event MC’d by Violet Town policeman, Pat Storer, who introduced the guest speaker and feature artist, Kimberley Gray.
