Coursing club stages a successful event

WHAT A WINNER: National Coursing Association of Victoria Waterloo Cup winner “Better Than This” standing proud.

LONGWOOD Coursing Club hosted the Waterloo Cup an annual event on the Australian coursing calendar.

In fact this classic event which was first held in Australia in 1873 is conducted in many countries worldwide and only catastrophic events such as world wars have interrupted the staging of it.

Conducted under the rules of the National Coursing Association (NCA), the 2017 event received 50 nominations from NSW, Queensland and across Victoria.

Heats began on Saturday.

Coursing consists of two dogs running against each other.

The Longwood track is a straight, 300m long, grassed track.
