LOCAL skiing star Jess Haslau has been selected for the Australian National Ski Team.
25 year old Jess – who grew up in Longwood and finished her schooling at Euroa Secondary College – is one of just six women chosen to compete for Australia, and was selected after some impressive performances in slalom, giant slalom and super giant slalom competitions.
“Selection is based on results in particular events, and on a world ranking points system,” Jess said.
“I qualified by a top three result that I achieved in a giant slalom race.”
Jess has been skiing and instructing others both in Australia and overseas since she was very young, after being introduced to the sport by her father and coach Richard.
Making the national team has always been a dream of hers, and her selection for the team is the culmination of years of hard work and a determination to improve.
