TOUTED as senior football premiership contenders in the KDFNL, both Stanhope and Avenel have now been beaten by reigning premiers Nagambie.

While Saturday’s 12-point win over Stanhope was not as comprehensive as the week before, the Lakers will be very pleased to come away with the points against such a highly rated opposition.

Nagambie dominated the first quarter but the scoreboard didn’t necessarily reflect the dominance, kicking five first-quarter goals that could easily have been double that.

Linc Sullivan spoke post-game about the importance of converting the ascendency: “If you’re winning the clearances and getting inside 50, you need to be hitting the scoreboard, otherwise it allows the other side back in”.
