Truck stop will make region’s roads safer

DAMIAN Drum (MHR, Murray) was in Euroa last week to announce funding for local groups and new infrastructure projects.
Mr Drum teamed up with fellow National Party member Steph Ryan early in the day to unveil a $1.53 million upgrade to the Balmattum rest stop on the Hume Freeway just north of Euroa.
The funding comes in equal parts from the state and federal governments, and will result in the creation of 20 heavy vehicle parking bays, separate heavy and light vehicle parking and a new toilet block.
“This is an important upgrade that will make our roads safer by encouraging truckies who use the Hume Freeway to take a break during long-haul drives,” Mr Drum said.
