• Ladies contest for bowls glory

    A SURE STRATEGY: Euroa’s Pauline Naylor’s tactics worked as she won this game against her Nagambie opponent.

    LAST Wednesday and Thursday Euroa Bowls Club hosted the Goulburn Valley Bowls Division of the Ladies ‘Champion of Champions’, this event having been postponed from the week before because of rain.

    Eighteen of the 21 clubs in the Tuesday division of pennant were represented in the draw for the games – unfortunately Dookie had to withdraw leaving 18 clubs to play off in the knockout competition.

    Euroa’s champion Pauline Naylor played Nagambie player Fiona Smith and won this match.

    Pauline then went on to play the eventual runner-up Marika Armstrong in the next round but lost to her in a well-played match.

    Wednesday’s play brought the competition down to the semi-finals on Thursday.

    Those playing were Marika Armstrong – Shepparton Park and Jenny Crilly.
