A GROUP of Euroa-based first-time racehorse owners hit the jackpot last week when its filly blitzed the field in the $1 million Crown Oaks.
Set Square took out the country’s most prestigious race for fillies at just her fourth start.
A group of about 12 Euroa people became part owners in the galloper when syndicator Ken King donated a couple of shares to the town’s junior and senior football clubs.
He said they were among that tiny, blessed group of racehorse owners which win a Group 1 with their first horse.
“They’re very lucky. There are some owners in this horse for whom it’s taken 20 horses to get one this good.
“They’ll probably spend the rest of their lives trying to find another one as good.”
